Welcome to the homepage of Prof. Cody Friesen in the School of Materials at Arizona State University.
The Friesen Research Group (FRG) works in the areas of surface/interface physics & thermodynamics, physical electrochemistry, thin film growth, and new paradigms in electrochemical energy devices. The group works in both ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and electrochemical environments. Our UHV capabilities include deposition with electron beams and sputtering, scanning tunneling microscopy, residual gas analysis, reflection high-energy diffraction (RHEED), and surface stress monitoring through a variety of techniques. Our electrochemical work covers basic physical electrochemistry, stress evolution in electrochemical processes, and work on electrochemical energy devices.
